Distinguishing Carnage from Venom

Key Difference – Carnage vs Venom

Carnage and Venom are fictional supervillains featured in Marvel Comics. Both characters are amorphous extraterrestrial parasites that envelop their host’s bodies like costumes and establish a symbiotic link to the host’s mind. They are both enemies of Spider Man. The main difference between Carnage and Venom is their power and brutality; Carnage is more powerful, brutal, and lethal than Venom.

Who is Venom?

Venom first appeared in Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #8 and was created by Todd McFarlane and David Michelinie. Venom is an alien symbiote, formed from a thick, liquid, organic material. It relies on its hosts for survival and, in return, grants them extraordinary powers. Venom was brought into the Marvel Universe from the Battleworld, a world Beyonder created to host a battle between good and evil. Spider Man takes the symbiote back to Earth, mistaking it for a black costume. Over the years, the symbiote has had various hosts. Its first host was Spider Man, but Eddie Brock is the most famous host of Venom. Other hosts have included Angelo Fortunato, Mac Gargan, Red Hulk, and Flash Thompson.

Venom is immune to Spiderman’s spider senses due to its earlier contact with Spiderman. It can also grant his power to subsequent hosts. The symbiote is capable of shape-shifting and can form spikes, expand its size, and mimic the appearance of other humanoids once it has obtained a host. Furthermore, it can heal the injuries in the host’s body at a faster rate than normal human healing. Although Venom’s character began as a villain, it is now considered an anti-hero fighting against crime.

Who is Carnage?

Carnage is Venom’s offspring. It bonds with Cletus Kasady, an insane serial killer, creating one of Spider-Man’s most lethal and brutal enemies. To defeat Carnage, Spider Man even enters into a truce with Venom.

Carnage first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man issue 361 in 1992 and was created by David Michelinie and Mark Bagley. Kasady and Carnage are more connected than other symbiotes and hosts since the symbiote lives in Kasady’s blood. Carnage is more vicious and brutal due to the insanity of its host. Carnage is also more powerful than Spider Man and Venom. Most of its powers are similar to Spider Man and Venom, but it also has unique powers, such as regenerating power by bleeding. Carnage’s superior powers are attributed to the fact that it was born in an alien environment – Earth.
